There is no requirement concerning the number of classes or shows you must sign up for. You do not need to register for class in order to register for a show. We fill quickly. First come, first served.

Winter/Spring Semester – week after Martin Luther King Day through the end of April.
Summer Camps – week long camps offered from mid-June through August.
When do I register? Register July-August for Fall. Register in November for Winter/Spring. Register March-April for Summer.
Every child who registers for a JBT show receives a role. No one is ever cut. Whether this is your child’s first theater experience or 35th, they will benefit from a team-building experience and grow as a performer. We use age-appropriate material, such as the Broadway JR series, as a vehicle to teach performance skills. Each show has been thoughtfully adapted to meet the educational needs of young performers while providing an entertaining audience experience. Throughout the semester, students receive technique training in voice, acting and dance. At the end of the semester, students perform a fully staged musical with sets, costumes and props at the Kean Theatre. The technical theatre elements of the performances, including lights, sound, and stage management, provide hands-on technical theatre education for JBTech students.
JBT offers additional technique training for students who wish to expand their range and elevate their performance. Classes are offered in voice, acting, dance and technical theater. Private lessons and audition coaching appointments are also available. Students do not need to register for a show to take classes.
The JBT Program
JBT Summer Camp is a high-energy, full day camp that takes the JBT Show experience and condenses it into a single action-packed week. Monday through Thursday, campers meet at the JBT studio from 9am-3pm, where they audition, receive a role, and rehearse the show. On Friday, camp is held at the Kean Theatre, beginning at 9:00AM. Students stay all day, bring a bagged lunch, and dinner is provided. The grand finale of our camp week is a full-scale musical performance at 7:00PM. Audiences are amazed at what JBT students and teachers can accomplish in just one week! Students may choose to attend one or more weeks of summer camp. We are proud to include our amazing JBT alumni, studying performing arts in college, as summer camp teachers.
Jeter Backyard Theater is proud to represent Pittsburgh at the International Junior Theater Festival.
